Eternal Treasure in Jars of Clay

To the Beloved,

May the grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

As we traverse the year 2026 amidst a postmodern landscape marked by cultural fragmentation and radical self-expression, the human soul suffers an existential homelessness. For the diaspora community, this alienation is triply compounded: a severance from ancestral roots, an estrangement within Western cultural currents, and above all, a spiritual alienation from the living God.

To address this profound disorientation, Nissi Church rejects the siren songs of worldly marketing and technocratic church-growth strategies. Rejecting the idolatry of human methodology, we submit unconditionally to the Spirit-driven, covenantal design of the Cross: Behold Christ, Live the Gospel.

Reformed Architecture: The Dual Trajectories of the Cross

Our church’s renewal operates through two distinct yet inseparable movements, reflecting the vertical and horizontal dimensions of the Cross.

Vertical Trajectory: Behold Christ

The vertical axis establishes the absolute supremacy of divine revelation over human autonomy. Apostle Paul articulates this in 2 Corinthians 3:18:

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

• Renouncing Autonomous Self-Definition: We turn our spiritual vision away from nostalgic longings and self-justifying works of the flesh, casting our gaze entirely upon the resurrected Christ.

• Beholding Objective Glory (δόξα): Before the unyielding, objective glory of the Son of God, all subjective emotionalism and structural self-deification collapse. Through the lens of Scripture and covenantal worship, the church is confronted, healed, and re-centered around the person and work of Christ.

Horizontal Trajectory: Live the Gospel

Grace (χάρις) received vertically does not terminate in quiet mysticism; rather, it yields active, embodied obedience along the horizontal plane.

• Daily Experiential Sanctification: Living the gospel requires continuous sanctification—daily mortifying the flesh so that the resurrection power of Christ may be publicly displayed.

• A Kingdom Embassy in Exile: Nissi Church is established as a Kingdom Embassy—neither a fortress of cultural isolation nor a museum of ethnic nostalgia. Transforming grace invades every domain of daily life: the home, the workplace, and the public square.

• The Ministry of Reconciliation: Commissioned as ambassadors, we enter the diaspora with the message of the Cross and active deeds of mercy, reconciling broken relationships and calling weary wanderers into the household of God.

Structural Preservation: Four Covenantal Pillars

To guard these dual trajectories against the corrosive pressures of modern consumerism, our reformational journey rests upon four institutional pillars:

• The Sword (The Word): The supreme canonical authority of Scripture reigns over the pulpit, decisively dismantling therapeutic pragmatism and legalistic self-righteousness.

• The Flame (Worship): Transcendent, holy worship consumes emotional consumerism and human performance, anchoring the congregation in quiet confidence at the foot of the Cross.

• The Jar (Sanctification): Relational discipleship bridges the generational gap, uniting the deep, reflective heritage of the older generation with the sharp, propositional clarity of the younger.

• The Wings (Mission): A sent community that refuses insular withdrawal, boldly declaring the absolute sovereignty of Jesus Christ over all spheres of reality.

Earthen Vessels and Eternal Treasure

This architectural vision does not rely on human ingenuity or eloquence, but rests firmly upon the infallible authority of God's Word in 2 Corinthians 4:7:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay (ὀστράκινος), to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

In beholding Christ to live the gospel, we embrace our weakness as fragile earthen vessels, so that the divine power of God may be undeniably magnified. We are no longer alienated strangers in a foreign land, but citizens of the Kingdom, resting in the eternal covenant of grace.

May the Lord Jesus Christ be exalted in and through His church throughout this journey of reformation.
