The Technical Production Specialist serves as both a technician and a ministry partner, helping ensure every service is executed with excellence and care.

Position Overview

The Technical Production Specialist supports the worship experience by overseeing all audio, visual, and livestream systems for the church. This role ensures high-quality sound, clear visual presentation, and reliable streaming for weekly services, special events, and ministry activities. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, calm under pressure, proactive in solving problems, and able to serve with a heart for ministry and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Audio & Sound System

  • Operate and mix live audio for worship services, rehearsals, and events.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sound system components including microphones, monitors, speakers, amplifiers, and digital mixing consoles.
  • Perform regular system checks to ensure consistent audio quality and reliability.
  • Work with worship leaders, musicians, and pastors to achieve balanced, clear sound.

Visual & Projection

  • Manage projectors, screens, and presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter, PowerPoint). Prepare and load weekly media content including lyrics, sermon slides, videos, and announcements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with projection equipment, cabling, and display systems.
  • Maintain projection equipment and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.

Streaming, Recording & Multi-Camera Operation

  • Oversee livestream setup, encoding, and broadcasting for Sunday services and special events.
  • Operate and manage multi-camera setups, including switching between camera angles, framing shots, and coordinating with camera operators.
  • Monitor stream quality, audio levels, and camera feeds throughout the broadcast.
  • Diagnose and fix streaming issues related to hardware, software, or network performance.
  • Manage video recording, archiving, and uploading content to online platforms.

Technical Support, Troubleshooting & Coordination

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical issues during services and events, responding quickly and effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with AV equipment, computers, network connections, and presentation systems.
  • Train and support volunteers in audio, visual, streaming, and camera operations.
  • Maintain inventory of cables, adapters, batteries, and other AV supplies.
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff, worship teams, and ministry leaders to plan technical needs.

Technology Planning & Improvements

  • Evaluate current AV systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, equipment, and workflows that enhance worship production and long-term reliability.
  • Assist with planning and implementing upgrades, installations, and system expansions.

Qualifications

  • Experience with live audio mixing, digital soundboards, and AV systems.
  • Familiarity with church production tools (ProPresenter, OBS, vMix, Blackmagic, etc.). Experience operating multi-camera setups or video switchers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across audio, video, computer, and network systems. Ability to remain calm and solution-focused during live production.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, servant-hearted attitude. Willingness to work Sundays, rehearsals, and occasional special events.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

  • Ability to train and mentor volunteers.
  • Background in church ministry or worship production.
